إن مسألة الأنا والآخر قديمة حديثة بإعتبر أنّ الكلام فيها لم يقتصر على الفلاسفة وإنّما تناولهما أيضاً شعراء وعلماء في الإجتماع وفي علم التربية وعلم النفس التحليلي، وقد نُظر فيها إلى الآخر لا بإعتباره غريباً أو غير ضروري بالنسبة إلى الأنا، وإنّما بإعتباره مكمّلاً له أحياناً ونقيضه أحياناً أخرى وقد يكون الإثنين معاً؛ فلا يُدرِك الأنا معنى لذاته إلاّ بمعرفة ذات غيره ولا يعرف معنى للصدق – مثلاً – إلا بما يقف عليه من كذب غيره.
فقد استغلّ جاك لاكون (ت. 1981) (Jacques Lacan) الفيلسوف الفرنسي المتخصّص في علم النفس التحليلي آراء سيقموند فرويد (ت. 1939) في موضوع الأنا، ليقف كلّ منها على علاقة تلازميّة بين الفرد في حالات قوته وضعفه، والآخر الذي بوجوده يكتمل نقص الفرد، وتتحدّد هويّته، وتنجلي جوانب من شخصيته بالإقتراب من الآخر الذي يُصبح في المنظور اللاكوني (Lacanien) مكمّلا للأنا بل مرآة تنعكس عليها صورته، وتصبح الحاجة إلى هذا الآخر ضرورية كحاجة الطفل الرضيع إلى الأمّ (فرويدو لاكون) وكحاجة الصبيّ المتعلّم إلى الكهل المعلّم (نظريّة جان بياجي (ت. 1980) (Jean Piaget).
واعتماداً على ما ذكرنا يكون الشاعر والكاتب والمبدع إجمالاً في حاجة إلى النظر إلى نفسه من خلال الآخر "المرآة" (l’autre miroir) ليرى ما تضمّنته صورته من إعتدال وإنحراف ومن مواطن مثيرة للإعجاب والقبول، وأخرى منفّرة وداعية إلى الإستهجان والرفض.
