يعد الإمام السيوطي (توفي سنة 911هـ) نابغة من نوابغ العلم والفكر في التاريخ الإسلامي، فقد حاول إستيعاب أكبر قدر ممكن من العلوم والمعرفة فيتحدث نفسه قائلاً "ورزقت التبحر في سبعة علوم: التفسير، والحديث، والفقه، والنحو، والمعاني، والبيان، على طريقة العرب والبلغاء لا على طريقة العجم وأهل الفلسفة".
ومن مآثره رضي الله عنه كتاب عن علوم الآخرة كتاب لقبه بــ "تحذير أهل الآخرة من دار الدنيا الدائرة" أودعه أربعين حديثاً منسوبة لمخرجيها متبعة ببيان غريب ألفاظها ومشكل معانيها...
ولأهمية هذا الأثر قام مؤلف الكتاب بشرحه وتحقيقه مع الإشارة إلى مصادره التاريخية ونسبته إلى مؤلفه عبد الرحمن بن أبي بكر السيوطي، ثم القيام بتنظيم النص بما يلائم طريقة الكتابة الحديثة من إظهار المنقول من حديث بداية الفقرات، ووضع النقط والفواصل والأقواس، وتخريج النصوص الواردة في المخطوطة بالرجوع إلى كتب السيرة النبوية وإلى المصادر المذكورة في المخطوط الأصلي، وغيرها من ترجمة لبعض الأعلام الذين وردت أسماءهم في المخطوطة، وتخريج الآيات القرآنية للحديث النبوي الشريف وشرح الكلمات الغامضة من خلال المعاجم اللغوية.
أختار الكاتب الأمام السيوطي للحديث عن هذا الموضوع لما له من مرادف في طلب العلم في رخاب الدين الأسلامي
