(الأماكن في عيون جمانة) رائعة الكاتب السعودي الشاب "ندى العريفي". بكثر من الرومانسية وبمزيج من الواقعية، وبلغة شعرية على غاية من الرهافة والإتقان، يكتب "العريفي" قصة حب تبدأ لهواً وتنتهي ألماً وفراقاً لا رجعة فيه.
يتناول الراوي حياة شاب يافع من أسرة متوسطة الحال ويتمتع بحضور إجتماعي وبموهبة أدبية في كتابة الشعر، فيجمع بأسفاره المعجبات من حوله ويعيش حياة ملؤها الفوضى وعدم الإلتزام سواءً في البيت أو الجامعة أو مع كل من يلتقي بهن من فتيات، حتى يشاء القدر أن يلتقي صدفة بصديقة أخته بدرية في الجامعة، فتنقلب حياته رأساً على عقب عندما يقع في غرامها، فتبادله جومانة المشاعر ولكن بصمت.
يحاول أحمد معرفة مشاعر جومانة عن طريق أخته بدرية، وهنا، تلعب الأخت دوراً سلبياً، بسبب خوفها على أخيها من سطوة العادات والتقاليد والفروق الطبقية التي ستقف حائلاً ما بين العائلتين، فتوهم أخاها أحمد أن جومانة تحب إبن عمها عبد العزيز وستتزوج منه، فيصاب أخيها بالحزن الشديد.
تتوالى الأحداث في الرواية إلى أن يُصاب عبد العزيز زوج جومانة بفشل كلوي، يصبح فيه بحاجة إلى متبرع بالكلية. فتبوء كل المحاولات بالفشل ولا يستطيع أحد أن ينقذه لعدم تطابق الأنسجة، إلى أن يظهر متبرع يرفض الكشف عن هويته، فتُجرى العملية ويشفى عبد العزيز، أما المتبرع الشهم فتتدهور حالته إلى أن يفقد حياته، تحاول جومانة معرفة هذا المتبرع، فتلحق بالدكتور إلى غرفة العمليات، وهناك المفاجأة إن المتبرع هو "أحمد" الذي أراد لها السعادة والذي أحبها حباً من نوع آخر يسمو فوق الجراح. فلا تبقى لها سوى كلمات من شعر كتبه إليها وهو على فراش الموت ليقول لها:
على موتي تعيش أيامك وفرحك ، مع موتي أشيل جرحي وجرحك ، أنا بيومي مع يومك ... تعيش سنيني وسنينك ، لو بيدي عمر ثاني .. فدا دمعة من عيونك.
".. كان أحمد منشغلاً باللهو والسهر وحياة الطيش... كان جلّ وقته يقضيه بالسهر والتعرف على الفتيات السذج الآتي يوهمهن بالحب والأحلام الرومانسية مستغلاً قدرته الإبداعية في كتابة الشعر والخواطر.. لم يكن يؤمن بالحب أو بوجوده.. كان يتسلى بمشاعر معجباته."
