إن لقاءات التكريم تزخر بقيم سامية، وتغلفها معان ومشاعر راقية وطيبة. فالإجلال لمن أضافوا المعرفة وأثروا العلم، والعرفان لمن علموا الأجيال ولا يزالون يعملون، والولاء لمن أسسوا مدارس علمية ومناهج فكرية يسير طلاب العلم في دروبها وعلى مداها، والتقدير والاحترام لمن أرسوا أخلاقيات البحث العلمي لدى الباحثين وطلاب العلم. هذه باقة عطرة نهديها إلى كل من سبق تكريمهم، وإلى من نكرمهم اليوم.
لقد بدأت لجنة التربية تكريم رواد التربية وعلم النفس، عام 1994؛ حيث عُقدت ندوة التكريم يوم 22 من يونيو واستهل د. عبد الفتاح جلال صاحب فكرة التكريم ومقرر اللجنة آنذاك كلمته في هذه المناسبة بكلمات لا تُنسى قائلاً: "الولاء لأرض مصر الغالية، والحفاظ على قيم الأصالة، والبر بالآباء في العلم والدم من الأبناء، والعرفان بالفضل لأصحابه، والتواصل في المعرفة بين الأجيال.. تلك جميعًا بعض القيم التي كانت وراء قرار اللجنة بعقد ندوة علمية لتكريم الرواد الأوائل في مجالات التربية وعلم النفس".
