عندما اطلعت على مضمون كتاب المؤلف هذا، أدركت حاجة طالب الفلسفة إليه لا سيما إن كان ممن يهتمون بالمنطق، وعلمت مدى افتقار المكتبة العربية إلى مثل هذا الكتاب الذي تناول فيه مؤلف مختلف مشاكل المنطق، وآراء المنطقين فيها، ورأيه هو في هذه الآراء، وهذا مما لا مناحى لمن يريد التوسع في المنطقيات أن يعرفه وأن يكون له فيها رأي.
وعزمت على نقل كتاب (الاستدلال) لمؤلفه (روبير بلانشى) إلى اللغة العربية، وأنا على علم بأن النقل من لغة إلى لغة تختلف عن اللغة الأصلية بالقواعد وبطريقة نظم الكلام، ليس أمر سهلًا، ولا يفي بالغرض دائمًا. ولهذا فضلت ترجمة المعاني بنقلها من مباني اللغة الفرنسية إلى مباني اللغة العربية، مراعيًا في ذلك أنسب الألفاظ وأفضل التراكيب التي تؤدي المعنى المقصود في اللغة الأصلية، وقد اقتضى هذا مني أن أتصرف في الجملة بالتقديم والتأخير لعناصرها بحسب ما تتطلبه الأمانة في نقل المعاني العلمية.
لقد أردت بترجمة هذا الكتاب أن أساهم في إثراء المكتبة العربية بمصدر هام موضوع في تمحيص المشاكل المنطقية وفي نقد أهم الآراء التي تكونت حولها في القديم وفي الحديث، وأن أشارك في دعم قدرة اللغة العربية على تطوير مصطلحاتها المنطقية.
