يمثل النقل الحضري شريان الحياة داخل المدن وواجهة الدولة والمرحلة الحضارية التي بلغتها، ويعتمد إقتصاد الدولة على متانة النقل وأنماطه المكانية والتقنية الذي يعتمدها، كما أن العلاقات الإجتماعية والثقافية والتزاور بين الناس وطرق راحتهم يعتمد على سهولة النقل ومستوى الأمان الذي يحققه، والأكثر من ذلك فإن هناك قاعدة تقول: "إذا أردت أن تعرف أخلاق شعب ونظافته فانظر إلى شوارعهم وسائقي السيارات في الشارع، إذ يمثل الشارع إنعكاس لثقافة المجتمع.
وإذا كان النقل بشكل عام يتكون من الشوارع (بأنماطها) والناس (تولد الرحلات) والمركبات (بأنواعها)، وملحقات النقل متمثلة بمواقف إنتظار السيارات والساحات المرورية والأرصفة وإشارات المرور والجسور والأنفاق ومحطات تعبيئة الوقود، فإن لإدارة المرور القدح المعلى في إنجاح حركة المرور من فشلها!!...
وهذا ما تعانى منه منظومة النقل في مدننا بسب ترهل الجهاز الإداري وتخلفه وتفشي الفساد فيه بشكل مريب، الأمر الذي انعكس سلباً على حياة الناس وراحتهم وأرواحهم ومستقبلهم.
ويمكن علاج ذلك من حلال ثلاث أمور مهمة هي: 1-وضع القانون وإحترامه وتنفيذه وتوعية الناس به 2- إدارة مرورية متعلمة صارمة أمينة قادرة على تطبيق القانون 3- إستخدام التقانة في إدارة المرور وآلياته تمشياً مع ما يحدث في العالم المتقدم.
في عالم اليوم تم إعتماد الخريطة الإلكترونية أو غرفة التحكم المروري (عبر الكاميرات) والتي كانت تعرف بطريقة الخطوط المرغوبة Desire Lines، إذ بإمكان رجل المرور معرفة كل شيء في الشارع من خلال غرفة التحكم: معرفة الحوادث، وإزدحام الشوارع، ودرجة حرارة الشارع وحرارة الإسفلت، وحساب الوقت على كل شارع وفق حركة السير، والتحكم بإشارات المرور حسب الحاجة، وحينما أصبحت منظومة المرور في المدينة محمولة على جوال السائق بإمكانه أن يتجنب الشوارع المزدحمة ويعرف شدة الإزدحام بالدقيقة واللحظة التي يريدها عن طريق الجوال، فمتى تصل هذه التقنية إلينا؟...
وإذا كان الإنسان يقضي ساعة واحدة من وقته يومياً في السيارة ها يعني يقضي سنتين من عمره في السيارة، وإذا استمر المرور المتلكئ عندنا كما هو اليوم، هذا يعني سنقضي بين 4- 5 ساعات يومياً في السيارة وبالتالي يأخذ من عمرنا بين 7- 8 سنوات!!...
