يتحدد الهدف من هذه الدراسة فى محاولة الكشف عن معالم الفكر التربوي للإمام ابن تيمية المعبر عن الاتجاه السلفي. كما يتحدد الهدف من هذه الدراسة فى محاولة الكشف عن مدى تأثر فكر الإمام ابن تيمية بالقوى الثقافية فى عصره، وكيفية تجاوزه للواقع الذي عاشه، كل ذلك محاولة منه لإعادة بناء المجتمع الإسلامي، وأيضاً الشخصية المسلمة، مدى انعكاس فكره العام على فكره التربوي. كما يتحدد الهدف من هذه الدراسة فى محاولة الكشف عن مدي ارتباط فكر الإمام ابن تيمية بالفكر التربوي الإسلامي ومدى الاستفادة منه فى حل بعض مشكلاتنا التربوية المعاصرة.
