تتناول الدراسة مفهوم الحرب، وأثر الحروب الإسرائيلية- العربية من عام 1967 حتى التوقيع على اتفاقية السلام مع مصر عام 1979 على تفاقم الصراع الأيديولوجي داخل إسرائيل حول كيفية التعامل مع الآخر العربي والأرض العربية المحتلة، وذلك من خلال التعامل مع الرواية الإسرائيلية بوصفها وثيقة أدبية- اجتماعية ومحملة برؤية الروائي والتي هي في حقيقتها رؤية طبقية سياسية اجتماعية، من خلال التعرض لأعمال روائية لروائيين يمثلون تيارات وقوى اجتماعية وسياسية في المجتمع الإسرائيلي.
وتطمح الدراسة إلى فهم أعمق ومتجاوز للركام الهائل من وجهات النظر السياسية المختلفة لجدلية الحرب والسلام داخل المجتمع الإسرائيلي، وصولًا إلى الأسباب الحقيقية التي تحكم موقف كل من اليمين واليسار تجاه مفهوم الحرب والعلاقة بالأرض العربية والإنسان العربي ودعاوي السلام التي يطرحها كل تيار.
