يحقق تحليل الخطاب بوصفه حقلاً معرفياً متمازج المعارف (Interdisplinary) إنتشاراً مطرداً في مجال البحث العلمي المعاصر في إطار العلوم الإنسانية، إذ تجتمع تحت هذا العنوان جملة من المبادرات النظرية الحديثة التي نشأت في حقول وفروع معرفية متعددة، وفي ظل مدارس وإتجاهات تفكير مختلفة.
وقد امتدت تطبيقاتها إلى خارج هذه الفروع المعرفية، إلى علوم وفروع وحقول معرفية أخرى، فشهدنا من يقوم بتحليل الخطاب السياسي في إطار العلوم السياسية، ومن يقوم بتحليل الخطاب الفلسفي في إطار الفلسفة، ومن يقوم بتحليل الخطاب القانوني، أو الخطاب التلفزيوني أو خطاب الأخبار في إطار الدراسات الإعلامية وغيرها من الأنواع الخطابية؛ الأمر الذي يجعل من دراسة تحليل الخطاب نوعاً من البحث الشمولي في مختلف هذه المقتربات والمعارف الإنسانية.
من هنا تأتي أهمية الدعوة إلى دراسة هذه المناهج في إطار فهم نظري شمولي، يتناول بالدرس والتدقيق أسسها النظرية، وجذورها المعرفية، وصولاً إلى التقييم الدقيق لأبعادها وآفاقها النظرية أو التطبيقية بدلاً من محاولة الإستثمار التطبيقي السريع والترسم الأعمى الذي تولد في الغالب نتائج غير مرغوبة، إذ تنقل المنهج دون فهم حدوده ومشكلاته في الواقع الذي نشأ فيه، ودون قدرة على إدراك حدوده التطبيقية في ضوء الخصوصيات المحلية؛ وحاول الفصل الأول في محاولة لتتبع مفهوم الخطاب أو تحليله في مجمل الحقول والفروع المعرفية التي ظهر فيها، وقدم البحث في فصله الثاني دراسة مقارنة بين تحليل الخطاب وتحليل المحتوى؛ أما الفصل الثالث فكرس لمتابعة ظهور ونمو تحليل الخطاب في إطار الدراسات الإعلامية، وبشكل خاص في إطار البحث الإعلامي النقدي.
