تمثل مادة هذا الكتاب مرجعاً تعليمياً ذي ثلاثة أجزاء تعالج الجيوفيزياء التطبيقية التي تم تصنيفها حسب المواضيع: جاذبية ومغنطيسية, جيو كهربائية وجيوحرارية وإشعاعية وجيوفيزياء جوية, سيسمية زلزالية. ويوجه هذا العمل إلى كل من الطلاب في الجيو فيزياء التطبيقية, والى مسؤولي عطاءات الأعمال الجيوفيزيائية, والى ممثلي اختصاصات علوم الأرض, والاختصاصات الجيو هندسية والمنجمية العاملين في الحقول, وجميع العاملين في التدريس والأبحاث في هذه المجالات. ويوضح الكتاب و بناءاً على أمثلة محددة مقدرة الجيوفيزياء التطبيقية في المساهمة في المجالات الجيوهندسية خلال استكشافها للتربة والأساسات في مرحلة تصميم المنشأة الهندسية و تقديم المتغيرات البتروفيزيائية للطبقات الحاملة للمنشأة في ظروف توضعها الطبيعية ورصد التفاعل بين المنشأة و التربة في مرحلة ما بعد البناء, لتحديد اتجاهات تطورها والحفاظ على سلامتها. مما يفتح أقنية و يشيد جسوراً بين الجيوفيزياء التطبيقية وعلوم أخرى, كانت في السابق على علاقة أضعف معها كعلوم البيئة والتنقيب عن الآثار المطمورة.
