المعرفة العلمية تعكس الواقع كما هو والمعرفة غير العملية تعكس الواقع بصورة مخالفة لما هو عليه وتفسر ظاهرات الكون بقوي فوق طبيعية أو تعكس ظاهرات الكون من خلال المشاعر الذاتية للأدباء والفنانين, ومن هنا تم الفصل بين ماهو ذاتي غير علمي, وما هو موضوعي علمي, وأرتبط المنهج العلمي بما هو موضوعي علمي وهذا أمر ضروري لأن ما هو موضوعي يحدد ما هو ذاتي والعكس غير صحيح, وليس معني ذلك أن ما هو ذاتي ليس ذا أهمية ولكن أهميته تكمن في تحديد الموضوعي له, ومن الطبيعي إذن أن يكون المنهج العلمي رافض لكل ما هو ذاتي لأن الذاتية لا يمكن الأعتماد عليها في الوصول إلي القوانين, والعلم كما نعلم هو جملة قوانين.
والمنهج العلمي يتسم بالعالمية بحيث أن أي باحث يستطيع أن يعيد النظر في نتائج بحوث أخري والتشكك في فروضها ومسلماتها أو في مدي شمولية البيانات ولذلك فإن الذاتية مرفوضة كمدخل لأنها لا تستطيع أن تجعل الباحثين يتفقون فيما بينهم لأنها لا تخضع لمعيار علمي موضوعي.
كما أن المنهج العلمي هو نتاج لجهود بشرية عبر قرون عديدة خضعت البشرية فيها لمنهج غير علمي يستند إلي الفصل بين عالم المعقول وعالم المحسوس والفصل بين المجتمع والطبيعة وكان نتاج ذلك أفكار ميتافيزيقية ولاهوتية تستند إلي منطق صوري يعتمد علي (الأستدلال والقياس والأستنباط) وكان ذلك يؤدي إلي أن النتائج تكون لزومية عن المسلمات غير القابلة للمناقشة أو الجدال, ولكن الفكر الإنساني أستطاع عدم هذا المنطق الصوري وإرساء قواعد منهج أستقراني يعتمد علي التجربة والملاحظة للوصول إلي قوانين عملية موضوعية نسبية.
