بما أنَّ مختارات عدَّة من أعمال ريتسوس الشعرية ترجمت للعربية، فقد حاولتُ في هذه المختارات أن أضيء جانباً آخر من تجربته الشعرية تجسِّدُ وحدة شكلية كليَّة في تجربته بالقصيدة القصيرة جداً وهي تجربة عميقة ومؤثرة.
يدأب ريتسوس هنا، كما في عموم تجربته، على تكثيف التفاصيل البسيطة لتغدو أساطير موجزة، ويخلق ملحمةً متخفيَّة من اليومي والعادي والمألوف، ملحمة بطلها الشاعر في حواره الأبديّ مع كابوس مصيره المحتوم.
حوار ظاهرُهُ المونولوغ، وجوهرُهُ تعدُّد ثري من أزمنة وأشخاص وذكريات تشتبكُ في الباطن، وتخرج مقطّرةً تقطيراً خاصاً في كيمياء العلاقة الشعرية بين كلمات بسيطة.
لهذا فكثيراً ما يُظهر شغفاً بالصور اليومية الخاطفة، حتى تكاد لغته تبدو شيئيةً بسيطة، لكنها تختزن في جوهرها، إرثاً هيلينياً عميقاً وضخماً، ذلك أنَّ تفاصيله المألوفة، مشحونة بطاقةٍ خفيَّةٍ من أساطير بعيدة وهذا ما يجعلها قريبةً وخلاَّقةً في الآن نفسه.
