لا شك أن الكامل قيمة كتابات الأستاذ الشهيد محمد محمود الزبيري ترجع إلى المعطيات الأساسية والمشاركة الفعلية للشهيد في حقل الحركة الوطنية منذ كانت همهمة وزئيراً محدوداً إلى أن أصبحت ثورة ونظاماً وبالتالي فإن قيمة هذه الكتابات تنبثق أيضاً من أهمية ارتباطها وتعبيرها عن الواقع اليمني، فهي لا ترتكس في الماضي ولا تحلق في غيوم المستقبل البعيد.
وكان هناك من المراهقين من يتهم كتابات الزبيري بالنزعة الرومنطيقية وقد يكون جانب من شعره قائماً على الإلهام الرومنطيقي إلا أنه في كتاباته الفكرية وكما سيؤكد هذه المنطلقات أكثر واقعية من كل الواقعيين، وأبعد عن المثالية والإغراق في الخيال، فقد كان رحمه الله يختلف بصفة أساسية في فهم واقع اليمن عن كل الوطنيين والمفكرين اليمنيين بمعرفته ومراعاته لما هو قابل للتطبيق وليس للاستعراض وللادعاء.
وانطلاقاً من هذه التحليلات العميقة التي تتضمنها هذه المنطلقات سوف يعرف اليمنيون أي مفكر كان هو الشهيد الزبيري، وسيعرفون أنه بهذه المنطلقات ينضم إلى رعيل المفكرين العرب الذين يتميزون بالموضوعية والصدق والمعرفة التامة ليس للواقع اليمني فحسب وإنما للواقع العربي والدولي.
