هذا الكتاب لا علاقة له بالسياسة، كما قد يظن كل من يقرأ اسم الأستاذ ميشيل عفلق لاقتران اسمه بالبعث العربي واقتران اسم البعث العربي باسمه بل الأحرى أن يكون القصد منه وفاء دين وعهد، وهذه خلّة من أشهر وأهم مزايا العرب الذين كرس حياته من أولها إلى آخرها نفس فيها ليتحقق حلمه فيهم كما تراءى له.
فالأستاذ ميشيل عفلق هو الرجل الصامت، كما يحلو للبعض أن يسميه، لأنه يفكر أكثر مما يقول. ويجسد أفكاره حقائق تنبض بالحياة وبدفء القلب الإنسانى، وهو لا يتكلم إلا حين يشعر أن كلامه هذا، عمل يخدم القضية الكبرى التي كرّس لها حياته، وكل طاقاته، وإذا نطق أدركت أن هناك رصيداً ضخماً من الفكر والثقافة وراء كل كلمة يقولها. هو ثروة ضخمة من ثروات هذه الأمة الخيرة الطيبة التي أنجبت الأنبياء والصدقين والشهداء والمفكرين والأبطال والشعراء. ويكفيه فخراً أن جزءاً من الفلسفة السياسية الرسمية للجمهورية العربية المتحدة. وأن أفكاره هي المسؤولة إلى حد كبير عن تفجير الطاقات الهائلة لهذا الشعب العربي الذي يحرز في كل يوم انتصارات رائعة في كل جزء من أجزاء وطنه الكبير من المحيط الأطلسي غلى الخليج العربي فحقه في هذه الأفكار التي يحتويها هذا الكتاب أن تنشر على الملأ.
