كنا نحن أهل الجزيزة برغم كل الحداث التى توالت عقب موت اللبؤة، ننتظر بفارغ صبر لا ينفد، قدوم الأسد في أيه ليلة، بظن أنه سوف يترك عرينه فى التلال الثرية جنوبى الجزيزة للبحث عن زوجته الصريعة، مقتفياً آثارها عند زريبة السوالمى ، ويجنبنا بذلك مشقة البحث عنه. لكنه خيب آمالنا فيه، فلم يتحرك من موضعه، فنال عظيم احترامنا، وتقديرنا لبعد نظره، بعد أن أثبت بحق أنه زوج عاقل لكنه على الجانب الآخر استحق سخط نساء الجزيزة وتقولهمن بالباطل عليه، بأنه لا يمكن أن يكون أسداً حقيقياً ، انه بالتاكيد تيس بلا قنين. وازداد اللغط بين الفريقين فيما بعد.
