إن في إزدهار الحضارة العربية في الأندلس، وزوال السيادة العربية على شبه الجزيرة الأيبيرية، عبراً وأي عبر، يستفيد منها المتأمل والمعتبر، خصوصاً إذا كان ممن بيدهم مقاليد الأمور، فبعد سقوط قرطبة في يد الأسبان، نهض الفارس العربي محمد بن يوسف بن نصر بن الأحمر من بلدته ارجونه قرب مدينة جيان، وجمع جنده وأنطلق مستبسلاً لمقارعة العدو، مركزاً جهوده على الثبات في غرناطة، مستفيداً من جبالها المنيعة، حيث تحشدت فلول القوى العربية الأندلسية، فاستطاعت قهر الأعداء تدريجياً ورسخت السيادة العربية قرنين ونصف، تمكنت خلال هذه الحقبة من الصراع المصيري أن تقاوم الممالك الأسبانية.
وقد شدتني دوافع عدة نحو تراثنا الحضاري في الأندلس، دوافع إعجاب وتقدير لأمجاد أجدادنا العرب الذين وصلوا برسالتهم الإنسانية والأخلاقية والدينية إلى تلك الأصقاع البعيدة عن جزيرتهم حيث أشادوا صرحاً حضرياً عظيماً في الأندلس في مختلف ضروب المعارف والعلوم والفنون وكنت أجد السعي للمساهمة في دراسة جانب لم يتطرق إليه الباحثون في جوانب حضارتنا العربية الإسلامية في الأندلس، ولكون رغبتي في البحث تتجه نحو التاريخ الأندلسي بشكل عام وحضارته بشكل خاص وزادت رغبتي عندما لمست تشجيعاً من بعض ذوى الإختصاص، ولغرض المساهمة في إبراز الجوانب المشرقة لهذه الحضارة، اخترت موضوع (قصر الحمراء في الأندلس "دراسة تاريخية تحليلية") ليكون عنواناً لكتابي، وقد اهتديت إلى جوانب البحث في كتابي هذا وقمت بتبويبه على النحو التالي: ثلاثة فصول: تناول في الفصل الأول النشاط العمراني الأندلسي، أما الفصل الثاني: تحدثت عن قصر الحمراء وصفاً له من مدخله إلى أخر ما يتضمنه القصر وما يحويه من أفنيه وأبهاء.
أما الفصل الثالث فتضمن مواد البناء التي تم بها بناء القصر والعناصر المعمارية من خلال الأعمدة والعقود والحنايا والشرفات والمقرفصات وكل ما يتصل بالهندسة المعمارية ومن ثم العناصر الزخرفية وبذلك بذكر ما حواه القصر من زخارف نباتية وهندسية وكتابية.
