أنعم الله على الفلسطينيين بحراسة المسجد الأقصى المبارك، والمقدسات الإسلامية الأخرى في فلسطين، فالمسجد الأقصى ليس للفلسطينيين وحدهم بل لكافة المسلمين في أنحاء العالم، والدفاع عنه واجب على كل مسلم ومسلمة، كما هو واجب الدفاع عن مكة المكرمة والمدينة المنورة في الحجاز، فالمسجد الأقصى المبارك أولى القبلتين وثالث الحرمين الشريفين.
من هنا جاءت أهمية وقدسية أرض فلسطين وما حولها، وقد باركها الله تعالى في القرآن الكريم، قال تعالى: "سبحان الذي أسرى بعبده ليلاً من المسجد الحرام إلى المسجد الأقصى الذي باركنا حوله لنريه من آياتنا إنه هو السميع البصير" (الأسراء: 1).
ولا عجب أن تنطلق من هذه الديار المقدسة إنتفاضات وثورات على الظالمين والمحتلين، فقد شهد تاريخ فلسطين إنتفاضات سابقة على الإستعمار البريطاني كان أهمها ما جرى عام 1936م، أو ما يسمى بالإضراب الفلسطيني الكبير، لذا فإن إنتفاضة عام 1987م هي مكملة للإنتفاضات الفلسطينية السابقة، ولكن بصورة تختلف عن سابقاتها من حيث عدم إستعمال السلام بل إستعمال الحجر، وتعنت المحتل الصهيوني بعدم الخروج من هذه الأرض مدّعياً أنها كانت لها سابقاً، وستبقى الإنتفاضات والثورات مستمرة ضد كل من يحتل أرض فلسطين المباركة.
تناول المؤلف في هذا البحث أربعة فصول ومقدمة وخاتمة ووثائق، كان الفصل الأول شرحاً وافياً عن الصحوة الإسلامية، والفصل الثاني أسباب الإنتفاضة، والفصل الثالث بدء الإنتفاضة، والفصل الرابع نبذة عن حركة حماس وحركة الجهاد الإسلامي.
