ولد تحسين يوجل في العام 1933م، في بلدة" ألبسان" في شرقي البلاد، تخرج في العام 1960م في كلية الآداب قسم اللغة الفرنسية في جامعة أستانبول، وفي السنة التالية بدأ يدرسّ في القسم نفسه.
تخصص في الأدب الفرنسي للقرنين التاسع عشر والعشرين وفي السيميولوجيا.
في العام 1978م، ترقى الى مرتبة أستاذ كرسي" بروفسور"، واحيل الى التقاعد في العام 2000م.
نال عدد من الجوائز الأدبية: جائزة سعيد فائق للقصة 1956م عن مجموعته القصصية" هاني يحب أن يعيش"؛ جائزة القصة لمجمع اللغة التركية 1959م عن مجموعته القصصية " موت الأحلام"؛ جائزة أورهان كمال للرواية 1993 عن روايته "الأيام الخمسة الأخيرة لرسول"؛ جائزة كتاب العام التي تمنحها دار العالم للنشر 1999م عن مجموعته القصصية" الجيران"؛ جائزة سادات سيمافي الأدبية 1999م عن كتابه النقدي" أقوال"؛ جائزة يونس نادي 2003 عن روايته " الزيف؛ كما حصل على جائزة إزرا إرهات للترجمة في العام 1984م، وترجمت بعض أعماله الى الفرنسية والسويدية.

ضغط الرجل الذي كان يستوجبه بالسن المدبب لحذائه على أصابع قدمه اليمنى قائلاً "نعم، يا صديقي المتعلم، أنا جاهز لسماعك تنطق بالتاريخ المطلوب"، وعلى هذا، وبدون أية لحظة تردد، نطق "الثالث من يوليو، 1883، براج" لم يكد ينهى جملته حتى انهال عليه كل الرجال في البدل السوداء بالركلات في رأسه، صدره، ظهره، بطنه، ذراعيه، رجليه، إلخ، بدون أن يظهروا أي تمييز لعضو محدد على أي عضو أخر هدفوا إلى تشويهه، فجأة، حدثت معجزة، ركلة في البطن رفعته عاليا في الهواء، الأمر الذي جعله يغلق عينيه وسقط بصوت مدم مصم على سطح طري، حيث قبع جامدا لا يتحرك، ولا يجرؤ على فتح عينيه.
عندما فتحها أخيراً رأى نفسه ممددا على سريره، بجانب "جول تازكان" والتي كانت تقرأ الجريدة في هدوء ورباطة جأش، وبدلاً من أن يقول "صباح الخير"، "أية أخبار مثيرة؟" أو حتى "لقد حلمت بحلم بشع" كان أمراً يستدعيه الحدث، "كان تازكان"، ألقى نظرة سريعة على زوجته وسألها في لهفة "هل يمكنك عزيزتي، أن تخبريني ما هو تاريخ اليوم، الشهر والسنة؟"
