إنه يطوف بنا من خلال كتابه الذي رَبت صفحاته عن 450 صفحة في أودية يافع وسهولها، ويعلو بنا إلى هضابها وجبالها، ليطل بنا من أعلى قممها السامقة على أقدم حضارة حجرية عانقت السحاب بأدوارها المتعددة، وسلبت الألباب بأشكالها الزخرفية المتنوعة. إنه يحدثنا عن بلاد يافع أحد أجزاء اليمن، وأحد أسس حضارته العريقة، حيث تناول في الفصل الأول التعريف بيافع من حيث المكان والسكان.
وفي الفصل الثاني تناول العناصر الفريدة في الفن المعماري اليافعي وأنماط ذلك الفن واهم عناصره المعمارية، ليلج بنا بعد ذلك إلى الفصل الثالث الذي استعرض فيه التقنيات المستخدمة في البناء وتناول ابرز طرقه ومراحله، وختم كتابه بعد ذلك بفصل رابع عرف فيه المدن التاريخية والمواقع الأثرية في البلاد اليافعية.
ولطبيعة البلاد الجبلية، وحرص اليافعي على استغلال مساحة الأراضي سيلحظ القارئ إن النمط الغالب في العمارة اليافعية هي الوحدات السكنية الكبيرة الممتدة راسيا، وهذا النمط المعماري أسهم إسهاما كبيرا في ترابط الأسرة اليافعية وتماسكها، إذ يسكن الآباء والأبناء والأحفاد في سكن واحد.
