يرى بعض الدارسين البارزين في مؤلفات القديس نيقولا كاباسيلاس أن كتاباته هي بحق من روائع الأدب المسيحي الليتورجي لما تمتاز به من إشراف نسكي وفهم عميق لليتورجيا الأرثوذكسية وقدرة فريدة على الخلق والإبداع؛ والسبب يعود إلى أن فكر كاباسيلاس هو فكر ليتورجي مشبع بروحانية إنجيلية خالصة. ولا غرابة في هذا، ما دامت الليتورجيا بالنسبة لكاباسيلاس هي إطار متكامل لنمو الروح. من هنا يرى كاباسيلاس أن الحياة الإلهية، تتجلى في الليتورجيا. والليتورجيا بالنسبة إليه، هي ميدان انسكاب الروح. وهذا، صحيح فالليتورجيا هي أيضاً إطار الأسرار الكنسية كلها، وهذا نلمسه لدى مطالعة، كتابه "الحياة في المسيح".
والكتاب هذا "شرح القداس الإلهي بحسب كاباسيلاس" يسهم على قدر ثقله في نهضة ترجى في ليتورجيا الشرق المسيحي عموماً، والأرثوذكسي على وجه التخصيص.
