عندما كنت أبحث عن بعض المخطوطات التي كنت أتوقع أن أجد فيها شيئاً من شعر القيان، وقع بين يدي مخطوطة مصورة كتبت بخط مغربي قديم، وعلى الورقة الأولى منها: "ري الظمأ فيمن قال الشعرِ من الإما تأليف سيدنا ومولانا العالم العلامة والعمدة الفهامة، وأحد عصره، ومفرد دهره أبي الفرج عبد الرحمن بن الجوزي تغمده الله برحمته أمين".
وفي الورقة الثانية يبدأ الناسخ بقوله: "بسمِ الله الرحمن الرحيم، صلى الله على سيدنا ومولانا محمد وسلم... قال أبو الفرج عبد الرحمن بن الجوزي: إن الوزير - أطال الله بقاءه - ذاكرني منذ أيام فيمن قال الشعر من الإماء المماليك...".
وفي أثناء قراءتي لهذه المخطوطة ساورني الشك في عنوانها وفي صحة نسبتها إلى أبي الفرج عبد الرحمن بن الجوزي، فالأسلوب الذي اتبع في تأليفها يبتعد إبتعاداً شديداً عن أسلوب ابن الجوزي، ويقترب إقتراباً شديداً من الأسلوب الذي ألف فيه أبو الفرح الأصفهاني كتابه المعروف "الأغاني" الذي يعتمد أساساً على الرواية، بل هو الأسلوب نفسه، بالإضافة إلى أن الإماء الشواعر اللائي وردت ترجمتهن في هذه المخطوطة، قد كانت حياتهن قبل نهاية القرن الثالث الهجري، ولم يترجم لقينة واحدة عاشت في القرون التي تلت، بينما يقول المؤلف في مقدمة كتابه إن الوزير قد "أمرني أن أجمع له، وأرفع إليه من أخيارهن في الدولة الأموية والعباسية...". ونحن نعرف أن وفاة عبد الرحمن بن الجوزي كانت في سنة 597هـ أي أنه عاش حتى نهاية القرن السادس الهجري.
