لا يقف الدكتور( حازم عبد السلام) في كتابه (من أخفى تراثنا الطبئ؟) عند حد السؤال عن هذا التراث، وإنما يجيب على سؤال من كتب التاريخ والمراجع العلمية العربية المتعلقة بالطب كعلم ومهنة رفع من شأنها العرب. فيبدأ بعرض للطب عند العرب ( الذين يشملون المتحدثين باللغة العربية سواء مسلمين أو غير مسلمين) ودورهم فى الطب وعلومه وكذلك تأثيرهم الجلى والبين في الطب الحديث الذى لا يقتصر على التأثير وإنما يمتد ليكون الأساس الذى اعتمدت عليه الحضارة الأوربية الحديثة. كذلك يلقى نظرة على المستشفيات العربية وإهتمام العرب بها على النقيض فى أوربا العصور الوسطى. تناول الكتاب أيضا الجراحة وإنجازات العرب في بعض العمليات الجراحية وقام بعرض للتراث الطبى العربى والترجمة التى قام بها الأوربيون لهذا التراث، يليها تناول سريع للطب عند الإغريق والعرب والأوربين أردفة بالجزء الأخير في الكاب وقد إختص بأسماء لا تنسى في عالم الطب في برهان حقيقى لمن أراد معرفة التاريخ صحيحاً ولمن مختصرة إحياء ما مضى من حضارة حقيقية قامت تحت مظلة الإسلام.
