للرواية الطويلة، أعوزته المصطلحات المكرسة لها، وأعجزه أن يمثل لما يقرره من أحكام بأمثلة مقنعة مباشرة.
في هذا الكتاب، وبخاصة في فصله الأول، هناك مغامرة في تحليل الدور النوعي للتحول الأدبي في المجالات الأيديولوجية والتحليلية النفسية، ومن هنا، على سبيل المثال، جاء إعداد هذين المفهومين: الدعوة النصية للمرفوض أيديولوجياً، منجهة، والدعوة النصية للمكبوت "نفسياً" منجهة أخرى.
هذا هو نزاع الوصف والسرد، فالوصف يعيق يقدمه سير السرد الذي ليس بوسعه أن ينفصل عنه كلياً، ومن هنا يأتي نزاع الوصف مع نفسه، إذ أنه، ما أن يقدم موضوعاً محدداً، حتى يبدو متناقضاً بينما يقول (يقترح موضوعاً أجزاؤه متزامنة ظاهرياً) وبينما يفعل (يعد موضوعاً تظهر أجزاؤه على أثر التجزئة الوصفية فجأة وبطريقة متتابعة بالضرورة).
وهذا هو نزاع الفاعلية الوصفية والفاعلية الإستعارية، فهذه مكرهة على تكوين الــ "هنا" المتخيل، والأخرى مشغولة تماماً بإظهار "الــ هناك" بشكل متعمد، وينسحب الأمر على نزاع عنوان النص: الأول في جوهره، بعد أن سعى إلى أن يجعل الثاني يعمل داخل السياق موهماً بتبدله بقوة صورته الخاصة الموحّدة، أما الثاني، فيردّه المضاد، وهو يحاول تقسيم وحدة الأول.
وهكذا يأتي نزاع النص والموقع عليه، فهذا وبعد أن يخاطر أن يكون ممنوعاً من قراءة ما كتبه عما كان مفتوناً فيه، أحياناً، فذلك لأنه يعرف، ولكنه لم يكتب.
