هذا كتاب ألفه علم من أعلام القراءات والتأليف فيها، وهو "أبو عمرو الداني" وفيه درس ظاهرة من ظواهر العربية المهمة، وهي ظاهرة الإدغام الكبير الذي يكون بين حرفين أولهما متحرك. والكتاب بقسميه: الأصول والفرش، يعد أوسع كتاب في دراسة ظاهرة الإدغام، وأول كتاب يخرج مستقلاً في هذه الظاهرة اللغوية في قراءة القرآن الكريم. وقد احتوى قسمه الأول مباحث وشروحاً مفصلة في الأصوات اللغوية ومخارجها وصفاتها ومواضيع الإدغام فيها. هذه المباحث وتلك الشروح تضاف إلى ما كان لدى القارئ وأهل الأداء والتجويد من مباحث، فتكوّن منها مكتبة التراث العربي في دراسة الأصوات والتشكيل الصوتي إلى جانب الدراسات الصوتية الحديثة.
