ولقد تتابعت على بابل سلالات متعاقبة هي الأموريّون والأكَّدِيّون والكشيّون والآراميّون والكلديّون.
يتناول هذا الكتاب تاريخ هذه الدول المتتابعة التي حكمت بابل وما استحدثته من نظم أدبية وفكرية وعسكرية وثقافية واجتماعية وأسطورية استمداداً من الشواهد الأثرية والنصوص المكتوبة، بمنهج البحث العملي الدقيق الذي لا يسمح إلا بما تؤكده الوقائع الثابتة وتبرهن عليه الشواهد التاريخية الأصيلة.
