هذا نخيل ديوانى الأول "الإنسان والحرمان"، أخرجته فى أوائل عام 1970م، ويومها جمعت فيه أكثر ما تحصل من إنتاجى حتى ذلك الوقت، يومها قال لى صديق: "لو أنصفت نفسك وشعرك لتخلصت من أربعة أخماس هذا الديوان وخرجت علينا بخمسة فقط، وإذن لأهديتنا ديواناً أجمل"، ولم تطب لى يومذاك ملاحظته، ولا خلصت عندى مقولته من الظنون!
واليوم -بعد عشر سنوات كاملة- صدقت رأيه، وعملت بنصحه، والحكمة -كما قال صلى الله عليه وسلم- ينشدها المؤمن أنى وجدها، وإن كنت لم تتحقق عندى -بعد- النسبة التى قسم بها ديوانى إلى خمس وأربعة أخماس، ولعلى أحتاج إلى سنوات عشر أخريات لأصدق هذه النسبة فأنخل الديوان للمرة الثانية وأخرجه للمرة الثالثة.
ولئن امتدت يدى إلى كثير مما فى هذا الديوان بشئ من التعديل أو التبديل أو الحذف أو الإضافة فلا بد أن من القراء من سيقول: "لقد أتلف ديوانه، وصنع قصائده العذراء"، ولا بد أن منهم من سيقول: "بل هذبه، ومشطه، وخلصه، واصطفى منه، وحلاه"، والحقيقة أننى حين أفعل ذلك لا يخلو تهذيبى من إتلاف، ولا إتلافى من تهذيب، وحسبى أننى مازلت أبحث فيه عن ضالة لى منذ أكثر من عشر سنوات، مؤكداً مع من قال: "لن يعطيك الشعر بعضه إلا إذا أعطيته كلك".
وإذا كان لى أن أضيف إلى هذه التجربة شيئاً من رأيى فيها فإننى أقول: إن إعادة كتابة القصيدة بعد هذه المدة أشبه بتعويم سفينة تم بناؤها فى الحوض الجاف، فالفجوة الزمنية بين اللحظة والظروف التى تولدت فيها القصيدة وبين الساعة التى أعاد القلم فيها صياغتها تسهل فك الحبال وحل الأربطة التى تقيد هذا العمل الفنى بحادثة واحدة وزمان ومكان ضيقين، إنها إطلاق للقصيدة فى المحيط الإنسانى، وإعطاء فرصة لها لترحل فى الزمان والمكان وتقاوم العواصف والأنواء، إن كانت قادرة على ذلك، وبعد كل هذا فإننى أعترف بانحيازى إلى الصياغة الجديدة، وبأننى أكثر إحساساً بتعبيرها عن مشاعرى، وأكثر ثقة بجمال طلعتها الآن بعد أن تأنقت بما أتيح لى من أدوات هذا الفن.
