جاء الفتح لمصر عام 1517م وذلك على يد السلطان "سليم الأول" .. وقد إستقرت فيها الأموؤ للدولة العثمانية متخذين من المماليك معينا وسندا في إدارة شئون البلاد .. حتى بدات الفتن في الظهور وقد أطلت برؤوسها في نهاية القرن السادس عشر ، فسادت المؤامرات والصراعات بين مراكز القوة بين سلطة عثمانية ومماليك... ساعد على استفحال أمرها ضعف الدولة العثمانية وإضطراب الأحوال الاقتصادية والسياسة والاجتماعية آنذاك وعن تلك الفترة وضع المؤرخ الذي عاصر هذه الفترة " محمد بن أبي السرور البكري" كتابه هذا ، والذي حققه بدروه الأستاذ " عبد الرازق عيسى" فخرج في هذا الثوب ليخبرنا وينبأنا الكثير عن أحوال تلك الفترة التى عايشتها مصر المحروسة وذلك بتتبع من تولى أمرها من الولاة والوزراء بدءا من الفتح العثماني وحتى المولى "أسعد أفندي" الذي أستمر حتى عام 1055 هجريا وقد زاد المؤلف على هذا بمقدمة عن أقوال الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم عن مصر وصحابته وكذلك بذكر فضائلها من الكتاب والسنة.
