تعد مضابط المجالس النيابية المصرية من أفضل المصادر لدراسة تاريخ المفاوضات المصرية البريطانية وفى هذه الدارسة نتعرض لمفاوضات رئيس الوزراء المصرى النحاس باشا مع هندرسن وزير الخارجية البريطانية كنموذج لمدى المعاناة التى كان يواجهها المفاوض المصرى لوضع العلاقات المصرية البريطانية على أساس يحقق لمصر امانيها القومية، ولا يعطى لانجلترا ما يتنافى مع جوهر الاستقلال على حين كان المفاوض الانجليزى يريد الاحتفاظ بالمصالح التى أدعتها بلاده لنفسها فى مصر. ومن المعروف أن بداية المفاوضات الواقعية فهمى للسير "ونجت" ممثل انجليزا فى مصر.
وللحديث عن المفاوضات الرسمية بين الحكومتين المصرية والبريطانية عام 1930 ينبغى ان نذكر أنه عهد الملك فؤاد إلى مصطفى النحاس بتالف الوزارة فى أول يناير 1930 باعتباره زعيم الغلبية، بعد اكتساح حزبه للانتخابات، ومقابلة ذلك بالابتهاج الشعبي خاصة وأن هذه الوزارة جاءت وليدة الانتخابات العامة التى تمثلت فيها إرادة الأمة.
