تحتل اللغة الألمانية في الوقت الحاضر في العالم العربي مكانة كبيرة بين اللغات الأجنبية الأخرى. وقد طهر ذلك جلياً في انتشار تعليم هذه اللغة في المدارس والجامعات، وحتى في المعاهد الخاصة، ويعتبر تعلم اللغة الألمانية هرباً من ضروب العرض، الذي يزداد الطلب من عام إلى عام، وإن دل ذلك على شيء فإنما يدل على انعكاس عام للتيار العالمي بالاهتمام باللغة الألمانية.
لقد اصبح العالم قرية صغيرة يزداد صغرها في ظل العولمة، كما أصبح التنقل والارتجال بين أرجائها مسألة تكاد تكون يومية لأغراض شتى. ولقد برزت المناط الناطقة بالألمانية كمناطق جذب للسياحة والعلاج والاستثمار وغيها، ويحتاج زائر تلك المناطق إلى الحد الأدنى من الحصيلة اللغوية والتعبيرات، التي تمكنه من التعبير عن نفسه وعن احتياجاته في المواقف المختلفة مثال: في المطار، في مكتب البريد، في مكتب السياحة، عند شراء المواد الغذائية، في محطة السكة الحديد، في الفندق، في البنك، في المطعم... الخ.
ومن ثم يستطيع أن ينجز المهمة التي ذهب من أجلها إلى هذه المناطق دون الحاجة إلى الاستعانة بوسيط ودون حدوث سوء فهم، خاصة مع هؤلاء الذين لا يجدون لغة أخرى غير لألمانية. ولما كان تعلم اللغة وتثبيتها لا يأتي إلا عن طريق الممارسة في واقع الحياة اليومية في مواقف عملية...
فإن الكتاب الذي بين أيدينا قد وجه أساساً لإمداد المرء بالتعبيرات والحوارات اللازمة في مثل هذه المواقف السائق ذكرها. كما أ،ه لم يكتف بتقديم التعبيرات والمصطلحات والحوارات باللغة الألمانية فحسب، بل قدم معها ما يقابلها باللغة العربية تعميقاً للفهم وتعميقاً للفائدة.
