إنطلاقاً من الحاجة في العودة إلى الأصول، أصول التأويل، ومحاولة قراءتها وتقديمها عبر إشكالاتها المتراكبة، ورغبة في نفض الغبار عن الجوهر التأويلي وتمييزه مما يُنسب إليه، تضع الدكتورة بشرى موسى صالح كتابها الموسوم بـ "لعبة المتاهة في التأويل .. ومقالات أخرى"، وعنه تقول: إن اهتمامنا بالتأويل ينطلق من الوعي الحاد بأنه من أبرز نظريات المعنى التي تبحث في استراتيجية الفهم وآليته العقلية التي تسعى إلى إنتاج (نص النقد) المكتوب لغة يمنكن وصفها بأنها (عبر اللغة) أو (ميتا لغة) تتحدث عن علاقة إنتاج لغة بلغة وعلاقة لغة بالعالم، وعلاقة عالم بلغة ..." ثم تتابع المؤلفة " ... ولا تدعي مقالات هذا الكتاب ما خلا اللمتن النظري منها، انضباطها في دائرة التأويل وانصياعها لشروطه، فهي متنوعة المظان والمشارب، ولكنها متبصرة بماهية التأويل وطاقته المثالية القصوى، حتى ولو لم تمتثل لشرطه واستراتيجياته ولكن حسبها أنها انفتحت على بعض مساربه ورؤاه، وتحاورت مع أصواته الدافئة والصاخبة معاً".
يبدأ الكتاب بمدخل حول مفهوم (التأويل) وتاريخه وإجراءاته والنظريات التي قيلت فيه، مع وقفة خاصة لما طرحه الناقد الإيطالي (أمبرتو إيكو) من مصطلحات حول التأويل (السيموزيس) و (التأويل المتاهي) وغيرها مما جاء في دراساته. يتبع ذلك مباحث تطبيقية وأولها (قصيدة الشخصية في الشعر العراقي القديم) تناولت فيه المؤلفة مجموعة من القصائد العراقية التي دارت حول شخصيات محورية وقسمتها إلى ثلاثة أقسام: 1- شخصيات المضي وصنفت هذه الشخصيات بأنها (شخصيات دينية) أمثال النبي أيوب وشخصية الرسول الكريم، و2- شخصيات التراثية – الشعرية أمثال المعري وأبي النواس، وشخصيات الحضور أمثال السياب وحسين مروان وشاذل طه، و3- الشخصيات الغرائبية، والمقصود منها (صناعة) شخصيات أسطورية ذات طابع تجريبي غرائبي، لا يعتمد على المعين المعرفي أو الحضاري، بل على أبعاد تجريدية محضة، .. ومقالات أخرى تناولت نماذج من الشعراء وقراءات في نصوص أدبية ومنها: "شعر كاظم الحجاج أنموذجاً" ، "جبرا إبر اهيم جبرا نصوص السيرة – نصوص الحياة" ، "سرد ورؤى" ، "خطوط السرد الملتفة" ، "أدب الرحلة، الأنموذج، النكوص" ، "رحلة رضوى عاشور أنموذجاً" ، "جدلية الوجود والمطابقة" ، وأخيراً "قراءة في الخطاب النسوي العربي".
