لم يعد فى خلد أحد ممن دعوا إلى حصول المرأة على حقوقها السياسية أن الطريق ستطول وستكثر فيها العقبات، وأن بعض هذه العقبات سيفرض العودة إلى الوراء. فهناك أعتقاد فى أغلب المجتمعات العربية بوجود تعارض بين الدين ووجود المرأة على الساحة السياسية، أو حتى على مستوى العمل. ويدور النقاش حول المرأة والسياسة، انطلاقا من مقولات معظمها دينية، بغض النظر عن مدى إدراك المشاركين فى هذا النقاش لها أو لدلالتها، أو إدراكهم أنها قد ترتبط بتقاليد أجتماعية وليس بثوابت دينية. وتشتد سخونة هذا النقاش عندما يصل إلى رئاسة الدولة وحق المرأة فى تولى هذا الموقع من عدمه ومن هنا تأتى أهمية هذا الكتاب، الذى يقدم مؤلفه الأستاذ محمد عبد المجيد الفقى، دراسة فقهية مقارنة يعرض فيها مواقف المؤيدين والمعارضين للدور السياسى للمرأة فى الفكر الاسلامى باسلوب سهل للقارئ. وتتسم الدراسة بموضوعية، ساعد المؤلف عليها إلمامه الواسع بموضوعه وتمكنه منه وامانته فى عرض وجهتى النظر المتعارضتين وهو لا يخفى ميله إلى أحد هذين الرأيين. وهذا رأيه الذى يختلف معه البعض ويتفق بعض آخر.
