مشى "أولافسون" أمامه في الممر متجهاً نحو غرفة الجلوس، لاحظ "لوغان" التضاد في التصميم الإدواردي الخاص بالمكان عموماً، بينما عكست اللوحات التعبيرية في المكتب خلاف ذلك.
ويبدو أن الأثاث مصنّف تحت عنوان المدرسة الألمانية للتصميم، فالكراسي محفورة بكل عناية بتوليفة من الجلد والكروم واللمعان، ينعكس على تقاسيم معادنها اللامعة، التي تتناسب مع الطاولات المكسوة بالزجاج وخزائن كتب مشغولة حسب أسلوب الزقورات، الذي يعود إلى مدرسة "مارسيل بروير" المعماري والمختص بتصميم الأثاث، أما الشبابيك الكبيرة فقد كانت تأخذ مكانها تماماً على الجدران الشرقية والغربية التي كانت تضيف مشهداً درامياً إضافياً إلى مشهد العاصفة القادمة في الخارج.
فسأله "أولافسون" بعد أن توجه إلى البار الصغير "هل ترغب بشرب الويسكي؟"، فقال له "لوغان": "نعم ثلث الكأس تقريباً".
