غمرت أشعة الشمس إطارات النوافذ الكبيرة الخاصة بمكتب المدير، وامتدت خلف الزجاج المرصص نحو المرج الأخضر المنحدر نحو الشاطئ الصخري ونزولاً نحو المحيط الأطلسي، الذي كان يبدو عليه الهدوء ذلك اليوم وكأنه يقوم بالتكفير عن الغضب الذي صبّه في أرجاء المكان، كان الناس في كل مكان بالستر القصيرة والخفيفة في مجموعات عبر الممرات المشذّبة بعد تلبُّدها بآثار العاصفة بكل الأشياء، وفي البعيد جلست إحدى الرسامات بمسند الرسم خاصتها إلى جانب الشاطئ، والبستانيون منتشرون هنا وهناك وعمال الصيانة حيث يقومون بإزالة كل ما سقط من الأشجار وأنواع أخرى من الحطام، ويحاولون بطريقة أو بأخرى تصحيح الأوضاع بعد تلك العاصفة الشعواء بربارة، وبالرغم من الشمس الحادة الممتزجة بهدوء المحيط كانت السماء اللازودية ما زالت تخفي شيئاً بين طيّاتها من الرياح الشتوية التي تجعل الأشخاص يضطرون للإنحناء طواعية لها.
