هذه الممارسات الشعيرية تأثرت بزمكانيات وبيئات إجتماعية وثقافات مختلفة وأعراف متنوعة، فكانت هناك تساؤلات وإستفهامات وأحياناً تشكيكات - تصدر من دينيين تارة ولا دينيين تارة أخرى - حول تلك الممارسات وما يكتنفها من أحكام تدخل بعضها في باب الفقه الإسلامي ومعاصرة حوادث حياة وبعضها في أبواب العقيدة وبعضها في أبواب الأخلاق أو الرجال أو غيرها، فتولدت بذلك أحكاماً خاصة بالشعائر الحسينية تعالج التنظير الفقهي والعقائدي والأخلاقي للشعائر وتدافع عنها وتهذب تلك الممارسات وتقومها وتدعم بعضها وتنهى عن بعض وفقاً لقواعد ومقررات الشريعة السمحاء.
هذه البحوث لم تستوعب مفاصل البحث في كل مسائل الشعائر المعاصرة بل كانت موضوعات مختارة احتمل أنها أكثر حساسية وواقعية من باقي المسائل، فكان هذا الكتاب عبارة عن باقة من البحوث المتنوعة جامعها هو الشعائر المعاصرة.
وهي كما يلي: البحث الأول: موازين التعامل مع روايات الشعائر الحسنية، البحث الثاني: مشروعية وضوابط التعبير بلسان الحال في أدب الطفّ، البحث الثالث: مشروعية توسعة الحرم الحسيني بهدم الأملاك الخاصة، البحث الرابع: حق الولاء في مشي النساء إلى كربلاء، البحث الخامس: دور زيارة الأربعين في الإصلاح، البحث السادس: الإمام العباس مدرسة الإيثار، البحث السابع: دور زيارة الأربعين في صناعة الشخصية المهدوية، البحث الثامن: إشكالية أخذ الثأر من ذراري قتلة الحسين، البحث التاسع: حضور السيدة الزهراء في مجالس سيد الشهداء.
