يمثل النص القرآني سنام لغتنا التي شرفها الله بهذا النص الكريم وجعل خاتم أنبيائه ورسله بهذا اللسان المبين.
وقد حظي هذا النص المبارك بعناية العلماء والباحثين منذ أن نزلت أولى آياته الكريمة فكثرت فيه الدراسات وتعددت إتجاهاتها منها في تفسيره وأخرى في لغته وغريب ألفاظه وثالثة في أسباب نزوله أو غير ذلك من الدراسات التي ملأت مكتبات الدنيا شرقاً وغرباً فكانت قبلة أنظار العلماء والباحثين في مختلف صنوف العلم والمعرفة ومن الدراسات التي اهتمت بهذا النص الكريم دراسة ألفاظه وقد تعددت هذه الدراسات بمختف إتجاهات أصحابها منها ما جاء في بيان وجوه القرآن ومنها ما جاء في بيان الأشباه والنظائر ومنها ما جاء في بيان المشترك اللفظي.
وعلى الرغم من الجهد الذي تركه اصحاب هذه المؤلفات إلا أنهم لم يتناولوا جميع ما ذكره أصحاب التفسير ولكل من هذه المؤلفات خصائصه ومميزاته التي لا يستغني عنها الباحث. لذا، وضع المؤلفان معجماً للأفاظ القرآنية التي اتفق لفظها واختلفت معانيها.
وقد قامت خطة الكتاب على ما يأتي:
- وضع الألفاظ القرآنية على نسق المعجم اللغوي.
- إعتماد كتب التفسير في إيضاح معاني الألفاظ القرآنية.
- ذكر جميع المعاني التي ذكرها المفسرون للفظه القرآنية.
