يُعد الشاعر سليمان الفليح من الشعراء الذين كان لهم إسهام في حركة التجديد والتطوير في الأدب السعودي، فمن خلال معايشتي لقصائد الشاعر، واندماجي في كل إبداعاته الشعرية كان الفليح يتميز بدور كبير أضاف على الساحة الشعرية والأدبية قدرة فريدة، ساعدته في إنجاح تجربته الشعرية، فلم يكن سليمان شاعراً فحسب، بل كان كاتباً، وصحافيأ، وناقداً اجتماعياً، وأديباً، وكل ذلك ساعد على إبراز موهبته الشعرية، وبراعته الأدبية، وصياغته الأسلوبية، فكانت محاولة الفليح في تجديد شكل القصيدة المعاصرة هو ما أضاف للقصيدة حداثة في الشكل والمضمون بما يتناسب مع النهضة الحديثة، ومتغيرات العصر، حيث وظّف سياقه الشعري في أغراض تخدم المجتمع، والأمة، وهو ما جعله يستحق بجدارة أن يكون أحد الرموز الأدبية الرائدة في المملكة العربية السعودية.
