الإمام محمد بن علي الباقر عليه السلام (57- 114هــ) هو الإمام الخامس من أئمة أهل البيت عليهم السلام، وهو من أبرز أعلام العلم والفكر في الإسلام، وكان له دور بارز ومهم ومؤثر في نشر العلوم والمعارف الإسلامية، وتأسيس النهضة العلمية الكبرى في زمانه، والتي امتد أثرها إلى ما بعد رحيله، فقد ترك بصمات قوية في المسيرة العلمية للأمة.
يركز هذا الكتاب الموجز على البعد العلمي والمعرفي للإمام محمد الباقر (ع) وإبراز ما قام به من إسهامات مهمة في تأسيس العلوم الإسلامية أو بلورتها ، مع إظهار المكانة العلمية المتميزة للإمام الباقر (ع).
وقد تفرغ الإمام محمد الباقر عليه السلام إلى بسط العلم، ونشر الفقه الإسلامي، وتأسيس جامعة أهل البيت، وتربية العلماء والفقهاء، وتدوين الحديث، وبيان المعارف الإسلامية، والتصدي للتيارات الفكرية المنحرفة كالغلاة والمرجئة والقدرية والخوارج وغيرهم.
وقد قسم هذا الكتاب إلى خمسة فصول وهي: الفصل الأول: "سيرة الإمام الباقر عليه السلام الروحية والأخلاقية"، الفصل الثاني: "المكانة العلمية للإمام الباقر عليه السلام"، الفصل الثالث: "الإمام الباقر عليه السلام وتأسيس جامعة أهل البيت"، الفصل الرابع: "مساهمات الإمام الباقر عليه السلام في تأسيس العلوم"، الفصل الخامس: "مواقف الإمام الباقر عليه السلام من الغلو والغلاة".
