الأساس المعرفيّ الذي كرّسته هذه الدّراسة هو أن موقف الرّوائيين من التّجربة الصّوفيّة لم يكن استنساخاً لها بكل أبعادها وممارساتها ورُؤاها.
فالنُّصوص الصّوفيّة؛ أو لنِنقُل: الخطابات الصّوفية التي (تناصّ) معها الرّوائيّان هي نصوصٌ تنتمي إلى ظروفها التّاريخية، وكذلك الرّوائيّ نفسه هو - في نهاية الأمر - ابن علاقته بعصره وثقافته ومعرفته.
فالمسألة بينهما - أي بين الروائي والنّص الصّوفي - لم تكن إلا حواراً استثمر من خلاله الكاتبُ النّص الصّوفيّ لأغراض ربما تكون على درجة النقيض من الرؤية الصوفية القائمة في هذا النص، لقد كان الروائي يؤول النصّ الصوفيّ وكأنه يتخذ منه (سلاحاً) يقدّمه لنفسه ولإنسان هذا العصر.
