هُوَذَا كتاب في تراجم الأعلام المبدعين والمجدّدين في التاريخ العربي والإسلامي، طريق بموضوعه، غنيّ بإشتماله على كمٍّ كبيرٍ من المعلومات العلمية والفكرية، والثقافية، والدينية، والتاريخية، والإجتماعية، والادبية.
وقد انقسم المبدعون - المجدِّدون، الوارد ذكرهم في هذا المعجم - تبعاً لموقعهم وأهميتهم وإنجازاتهم - إلى فئتين:
-فئة الذين قدَّموا إبداعات جلَّى رائدة إلى العالمين العربي والإسلامي، في مجال؛ علوم القرآن والسُّنَّة والعلوم الشرعية، والإصلاح الديني والإجتماعي، والآداب العربية، والتبويب والتدوين، والتعريب والصحافة.
-فئة الذين قدِّموا إبداعات جلَّى رائدة إلى العالم أجمع، في مجال: العلوم الطبية والرياضية والكيميائية والفلكية، وإبتكار الإختراعات والنظريات، والإختبارات التطبيقية العملية.
يحتوي هذا الكتاب على تراجم سيرة حياة المبدعين والمجدِّدين في كلِّ العصور العربية - الإسلامية بدءاً من عصر صدر الإسلام حتى أواخر القرن الرابع عشر الهجري/ الربع الأخير من القرن العشرين الميلادي.
الكتاب محاولة متواضعة، تُقدَّم اليوم إلى قرَّاء المكتبة العربية، عنَّها تكون فجَراً جديداً، او منارة هداية يطلُّون من خلالها على مظاهر جديدة ومشرقة من تراثنا الحضاري والإنساني، جديرة بأن نزيل عنها نقاب النسيان والإندثار.
