في سعي حثيث لإبراز دور "المرأة في المسرح الخليجي" يؤطر هذا الكتاب لمجموعة أبحاث متخصصة في موضوع "اشتغال المرأة بالمسرح في الخليج العربي" والكتاب هو نتاج أعمال الندوة الفكرية للدورة الثامنة للمهرجان المسرحي للفرق المسرحية الأهلية في دول مجلس التعاون المنعقدة في أبو ظبي في الفترة ما بين (21-28 سبتمبر 2003م).
في هذا الكتاب يقع القارىء على أربعة أبحاث رئيسية بحثت موضوع المسرح وعلاقته بالمرأة بآليات مختلفة ، منهم من اهتم بالملاحظات النقدية والمكثفة ومنهم من شغله الإستطراد والتفصيل بصورة بالغة حول المرأة في المسرح بشكل عام.
لم تدخل أبحاث الكتاب في فحص أدوار المرأة من الداخل، بل قدمت وصفاً وعرضاً تاريخياً يغطي حاجة ملحّة، ويسدّ المطلوب بالفعل من ندوة تعالج موضوعاً رائداً من هذا النوع، حيث تطرّق الكتاب إلى بدايات ظهور المسرح في الخليج العربي، وبداية ظهور المرأة عليه بصورتها الحقيقية، حيث عرض المشاركون صورة لذلك في كل دول مجلس التعاون الخليجي عبر أسماء نسائية معروفة أصبحت جزءاً من تاريخ المسرح في هذه المنطقة التي لها خصوصيتها، لأنها ترتبط بواقع الخليج الإقتصادي وناتجه الثقافي، وقد نتجت عن هذه الخصوصية من التمازج والتغير الإجتماعي السريع الذي شهدته المجتمعات الخليجية.
وكان من أهم نتائج هذه الندوة - التي عرض الكتاب لموضوعاتها - قدرتها المتميزة على استطلاع الدور التاريخي لحضور المرأة على المسرح، وذلك من أجل تحفيز الأدوار الحالية للفنانات البارزات على المسرح على أن يندفعن بشكل أقوى وأكثر فاعلية.
