وفى إيثاكا، واجه البطل عشاق زوجتة الذين حاولوا إجبارها على الزواج من أحدهم، فأبادهم جميعآ قبل أن يكشف عن شخصيته ويستقر فى بيته بين زوجته وولده، وكلمة الأوديسة، تعنى سلسلة طويلة من الرحلات تتخللها المخاطرات والأهوال، وقد ترجمت الإلياذة والأوديسة الى لغات العالم تقريبآ، وفى كتابى هذا أحاول أن اعرض ملخصآ لهاتين الملحمتين دون المساس بالاحداث الروائية وترتيبها، ليتعرف القارئ على اشهر ملاحم الشعوب القديمة.
