لقد كان الشعر الجاهلي ولا يزال محل عناية الدارسين في شتى أرجاء العالم العربي، ولقد تعددت وجهات النظر حول هذا الشعر، كما اختلفت آراء كثيرة من العلماء حول نسبة هذا الشعر إلى قائليه. اختلفت وجهتا نظر النقاد حول هذا الشعر باختلاف مناهجهم في الدراسة، ورغم كثرة الدراسات التي تعرضت للشعر الجاهلين، إلا أنه لا يزال- في تصوري - يحتاج إلى كثير من التأمل والدراسة، والبحث والتنقيب، وأن الكثير من قضاياه محل اختلاف الدراسين، فلا توجد دراسة حتى اليوم يزعم صاحبها أنه قد قال الكلمة الأخيرة فى الشعر، فلا يزال المجال واسعاً، والأمد بعيداً حتى تقال مثل هذه الكلمة.
