"جو الحافي" رواية من تأليف دبليو- بي- كينسلا نال عليها جائزة زمالة هاوغنون ميفيلين الأدبية، واتحاد أيوا للبيسبول، وهي أساس الفيلم العالمي "ملعب الأحلام" نقلها إلى العربية: محمد صلاح ناصر.
تتحدث الرواية عن رياضة البيسبول وحلم بطل الرواية بتحويل حقل للذرة خاص به إلى ملعب كبير لتلك الرياضة، ويقف ضده أهل زوجته، لكن زوجته تتضامن معه تضامناً كبيراً، ويكون لدى البطل أصدقاء يضعف أحدهم ويخونه، لكن روح المحبة تسيطر عليه، كما يصر على المواجهة على الرغم من جميع المعوقات التي تعترض حلمه.
ما يميز هذا العمل أنه يعمل على تبيان روح الخلق الإبداع لدى بطل الرواية إذ يصنع بطل الرواية من حقل الذرة ملعباً رياضياً كبيراً ويواجه في هذا مصاعب كان يأمل بالتغلب عليها، وهذا يعني أن الثبات والإصرار هما الحافز الأساسي للتقدم والنجاح. قالوا عن الرواية: "إنه كتاب مراوغ مدهش، وهو ليس عن البيسبول إلى حد كبير جداً قدر ما هو عن الأحلام، السحر، الحياة، وما هو أمريكي على نحو جوهري.. عمل سيعيش متجاوزاً هذا الموسم ومواسم كثيرة جداً" –من مجلة ذفيلا دلفيا إنكوايرير.
