يمثل عبد العظيم أنيس (1932) قمية علمية وإنسانية أثرت ولاتزال حياتنا في مجالات العلم والثقافة والآدب والنضال الوطنى وهذا الكتاب هو محاولة للإمسام ببعض خيوط هذه القمية الكبيرة، وإظهارها للقارئ وللأجيال القادمة، علها تكون نبراسا في زمن ندرت فيه القيم وانطفات كثير من الأسرجة. لقد توخت اللجنة المشرفة على إعداد هذا الكتاب، أن يتضمن أكبر قدر من التعريف بالمجهول عن عبد العظيم أنيس فبدأت الكتاب يلمحة عن تارية العلمي والوطني، ثم بلمحات عن نشأته كما كتبها في "ذكريات من حياتى" ثم مجموعة من الشهادات لرفاقة وأصدقائه وتلاميذه بعضها قد سبق نشره في مناسبات مختلفة. ثم اختارت اللجنة في القسم القانى عددا من المقالات التي سبق أن نشرت له بالصحف والمجلات في قضايا الرياضيات والتعليم والسياسة الداخلية والخارجية، بالإضافة إلى بعض الحوارات التي أجريت معه وبعض التعقيبات على كتاباته وحواراته . أما القسم الثالث فقد تضمن دراسين عن إنجازه النقدي كما تمثل في كتاب "في الثقافة المصرية".
