هذه هي الترجمة العربية الاولى لنص بالغ الاهمية من حيث موضوعه وتوقيته ومؤلفوه. فقد جمعت هذه المناظرة المشهورة والمنشورة تحت عنوان "لماذا الحرب" بين اثنين من اعظم مفكري القرن العشرين بين البرت انشتاين وفرويد وقد نشرت هذه الرسائل المتبادلة بين الاثنين في العام 1933 من قبل المعهد الدولي للتعاون الفكري كما كانت هذه المناظرة جزء من سلسلة دولية من الرسائل المفتوحة برعاية المعهد وتبادل خلالها كبار المفكرين الافكار حول المسائل الرئيسية والحيوية واهمها كان التهديد بالحرب سيلع القارئ العربي، ولاول مرة على وجهات نظر انشتاين وفرويد في قضايا عديدة مثل الدولة والسلطة والطبيعة البشرية والنوازع العدوانية والمسؤولية الاخلاقية لقادة الفكر في العالم واخيرا وهو الاهم الجذور العميقة للحروب.
