هذه رسالة خردية في إعجاز القرآن الكريم، وقف من خلالها الإمام الجرجاني على بيان كثير من الصور الجميلة التي تقنع وتشفي في إعجاز القرآن الكريم، وتثبت انقطاع السابقين واللاحقين عن مجاراة القرآن الكريم أو معرضته وتسليمهم بذلك تسليم الواثق من العجز، سواء عن طريق الحال أو المقال.
وإذا ما عدنا لمتن هذه الرسالة نجد أن الإمام الجرجاني قد عكف فيها على مناقشة وتفنيد أسباب عجز العرب عن معارضة القرآن، وهم المرمدون في هذا الشأن أصحاب المنطق الجلي واللسن والفصاحة والبيان وأن ذلك أمر متعذر عليهم وهو يعود إلى "نظمه المعجز" والذي جعلهم يحيرون ولا يكادون...
ولا يزال الإمام الجرجاني يواصل تفنيده لتلك الشبه والاعتراضات التي يسوقها عن أولئك المعرضين، وحيث أن الحديث ذو شحون فهو لا يكاد يجيب عن شبهة حتى يرد على شبه أخرى تتوالد عنها وتتفرع، ومن هذه الشبه قول بعضهم ممن يحاول التشكيك بأنه يمكن أن يوجد في الزمان الفذ الفرد الذي يستطيع أن يخوض من أفانين القول ويبرز في هذا الشأن ويشار إله بالبنان، كامرئ القيس بن حجر الكندي في القريض، فما الذي منعه أن يجاري القرآن أو يعارضه؟ ويرد عليهم الإمام الجرجاني هذه الشبهة في مناقشة موضوعية لا يلبث أن ينقطع أمامها الخصم، ويسلم تسليم الواثق بالعجز.
والرسالة بعد هذا مليئة بالملح والنكات البلاغية والطرائف الأدبية فهي جامعة مانعة، وتعد محاولة "محمد عمر باحاذق" في شرح الرسالة هذه فريدة في بابها، ولا نبالغ إذا قلنا إن هذا الشرح الذي بين يدينا هو أول عمل من نوعه يتناول رسالة الإمام الجرجاني الشافية في إعجاز القرآن الكريم بالشرح والتوضيح.
