لا يخفى على أحد أن التربية جزء لا يتجزأ من الحياة الإنسانية، وهي للإنسان الهواية والنجاة من الضلالة، وفي التربية سعادته في الدارين. وقد ساق الله عز وجل للإنسان قصصاً في القرآن الكريم. لتكون له عبرة وعظة ولتكون له في دلالاتها وفي تفاصيلها سمات تربوية يتخذها لنفسه منهجاً ومثلاً يحتذى، ففي القصص تأثيراتها العظيمة على النفس الإنسانية إلى جانب ذلك كان في نهج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وفي أصحابه مواقف وسلوكاً هي في حدّ ذاتها قصصاً تروى للاهتداء بهدي أصحابها. لما كانوا عليه من خلق مستمدة من الشريعة المقدسة. إذ أنهم تربوا في ظل السنة والقرآن، والتزموا بأدبها.
وفي هذه الكتاب مجموعة قصص مثلت نماذج تربوية أبطالها رجالاً تمثلوا تعاليم الشريعة الإسلامية قد أدبهم الله فأحسن تأديبهم، فكانت قصصهم في مصداقيتها وفي سمو دلالاتها التربوية ما تصلح لأن تكون نبراساً لكل مؤدب يستمد منها ما يشاء من دروس، ومن عظات تكون له مدداً في مهمته التربوية تجاه أبنائه أو تلامذته أو من يهمهم أمره من الجيل الطالع الذي هو بحاجة إلى تلك المثل ليهتدى بهديها ويسير على طريقها. ولتكون له بمثابة منهج تربوي تنطوي على سامية وآداب حميدة تقيه شر الاتباع الأعمى وراء الأهواء.
