يبدو لازمًا التنويه لضرورة التوقف عن إعمال الصورة الذهنية النمطية عن الدولة والمجتمع والصراعات الجارية في الدول العربية والإسلامية عامة، عند معالجة الأوضاع في السودان خاصة.
لذا فإن الحديث عن عروبة السودان وهويته والأمة السودانية والدين واللغة والثقافة هو حديث عن حالة صراعية جارية؛ إذ كل تلك القضايا "المحسومة" في المجتمعات العربية الإسلامية الأخرى، هي قضايا ذات وضع وفهم مختلف في السودان، أو هي مصطلحات لا تحمل نفس المضامين المعتادة، أو كلها مصطلحات ما يزال الخلاف جاريًا وحادًا في داخل السودان- بغض النظر عن أسبابه- حول مضامينها ومدى سيادتها.
وكذا الحال عن الحديث عن الدولة وطبيعتها ومدى احترام المجتمع لها واستعداده للاستجابة إلى قراراتها؛ إذ العلاقة شائكة ومختلف على قواعدها في السودان.
والقصد أن معالجة ومتابعة أوضاع السودان، يتطلب تشكيل صورة ذهنية واضحة من خلال إطار معرفي محدد خاص بأوضاع السودان، دون إسقاط للصورة الذهنية المكتسبة من معالجات صراعات وأوضاع في الدول العربية والإسلامية الأخرى. وفي ذلك يتطلب الأمر جهدًا معرفيًا حتى لا يجرى الاستسلام للصور النمطية المعتادة، خاصة وأن السودان يعاني من فجوة معرفية لدى أبنائه عن أنفسهم ولدى الآخرين عنه، كما يتطلب الأمر تعميق البحث أكثر، حين يكون مطلوبًا الكتابة عن الأوضاع المستقبلية لهذا البلد.
