لا يخفى لطلاب العلوم الشرعية أهمية العلوم الآلية التي منها علم المنطق، ولعلمائنا حظ صالح من هذا العلم، فقد تركوا لمن بعدهم ميراثاً ضخماً.
والوارث لهذا الميراث الضخم، يجب أن ينظر فيه أولاً ويعرفه من قريب، حتى يقدر على تقديم شيء جديد، فمن هنا - ومن وجوه أخرى لسنا بصدد بيانها - وجب علينا أن نهتم بتراثنا.
وللعلماء في علم المنطق كتب ومتون صالحة كثيرة، من بينها متن تهذيب المنطق الذي صنفه العلامة التفتازاني في أواخر حياته، وقد تقبله العلماء وراج بين الطلبة، وأقبلوا عليه شرحاً وتحشيةً وتعليقاً، وممن شرحه ابن حفيده الفاضل الهروي.
والكتاب ما زال مخزوناً في زوايا خزائن الكتب، لم يخرج إلى النور حتى الآن - على ما أعرف - فأحببت أن أخدمه بما استطيع لينفع به الطلبة ويكون ذخراً لي يوم لا ينفع مالٌ ولا بنون.
وقد حرصت أن لا يفوتني حاشية مدرجة في النسخة المخطوطة، فنقلت جميعها - تقريباً - وعلَّقت على الكتاب تخريجاً لنصوصه فلا أدري نصاً لم أخرَّجه، وتوضيحاً لبعض ما ظننتُ فيه الإبهام والحاجةَ إلى الإيضاح، وإستدراكاً لما قد ظننت أنَّ الشارح مخطئ فيه.
والمقصود من ذلك كله أن يخرج الكتاب صحيحاً سالماً مفهوماً للقارئ، فقد ابتعدنا عن تراثنا كثيراً، ونبتت موانع كثيرة في زماننا دون فهم مرادهم.
