الأدب العربي الموريتاني جزء لا يتجزأ من نهر الأدب العربي الكبير، سائر في ركبه عموماً، يتقاطع معه في الهموم ويسير معه في التجديد الفني حيثما سار دون أن يفقد أصالته الخاصة كأي أدب عربي في أي قطر يتسم بسمات تخصصه بقدر ما تحضر فيه معالم عامة تؤكد انضواءه في سياق الهوية العامة. ولقد لعبت عوامل كثيرة أدواراً مختلفة في عدم اطلاع الأشقاء العرب نقاداً وقراء على هذا الأدب بجميع مناحيه قديمة وحديثة إلا نادراً، منها أن معظمه لم يطبع بعد وأن ظهر للعيان فإنما في صحف ومجلات محلية لا تحظى بقدر من التوزيع الخارجي يعتد به، ومنها أيضاً غياب إستراتيجية عربية مشتركة للنشر والتوزيع، وأولاً وأخيراً افتقاد سياسة إدارية محلية تعني بطبع وتوزيع الكتاب المرويتاني.
ومما لا ريب فيه أن الرواية الموريتانية لم تحظ بالقدر المطلوب من الدراسة وخاصة الدراسة الأكاديمية المتأنية التي تسعى لمعالجة الأعمال معالجة تتوسل بالمناهج النقدية الحديثة بعيداً عن التأمل الذاتي أو الخواطر الصحفية السريعة. وما يميز هذه الدراسة التي بين أيدينا هو أنها الوحيدة التي جاءت لدراسة الرواية الموريتانية في شموليتها متوقة عند كل واحدة منها. وبالتالي ستقوم هذه الدراسة بوصف وتحليل السرد، والزمن، لأحداث، المكان، الشخصيات صفاتها وأنماطها والقضايا التي شكلت المرتكز الأساس لهذه الروايات وفق الخطة التالية: الفصل الأول: حول المهاد النظري للرواية الموريتانية. الفصل الثاني: البناء الفني للرواية الموريتانية، الفصل الثالث: البعد الدلالي للرواية الموريتانية.
